Jokowi Heads to Jakarta to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr with Children and Grandchildren

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), along with his wife Iriana Jokowi, departed from Solo to Jakarta to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah with his family.

The moment of departure was posted on Jokowi’s personal Instagram account on Friday (20/3/2026).

In his post, Jokowi stated his plans to remain in Jakarta until 24 March 2026.

“Today I will go to Jakarta with Mrs Iriana until Tuesday, 24 March. Thank you,” said Jokowi.

“On this Eid al-Fitr moment, I, together with Mrs Iriana, am departing from Solo to Jakarta to gather with the family, to catch up, especially with the grandchildren who always bring cheerfulness and new stories,” he wrote.

He also extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to the public, hoping that the homecoming journeys would proceed smoothly and filled with happiness.

“Happy welcoming Eid al-Fitr. May all our journeys be smooth, we be reunited with our beloved families, and the connections we maintain be filled with warmth and joy,” he continued.

He confirmed that Jokowi and his family will perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in Jakarta.

“Eid in Jakarta, Father and Mother will perform Eid prayers at Masjid Jami’ Al-Bina, GBK,” said Syarif, when contacted.
