Jokowi Embarks on Regional Safari, Gerindra Wishes Him a Speedy Recovery

Gerindra Party Deputy Chairman Prasetyo Hadi has welcomed the recovery of former President Joko Widodo, who began a regional safari today. “From Gerindra, we express our relief, as it means he is healthy again, because previously he was somewhat unwell,” Prasetyo said at the House of Representatives building in Jakarta on Friday, 26 June 2026. The State Secretary Minister added that the activities of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s father were unproblematic, especially considering Jokowi’s position as a national figure. “As a statesman and national figure, I don’t think there is any issue,” said the spokesperson for President Prabowo Subianto. On Friday morning, Jokowi departed from Adi Soemarmo Airport in Boyolali Regency, Central Java, heading to Lampung to begin his safari with volunteers and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Jokowi wore a white shirt and cap featuring the elephant logo characteristic of PSI. Regarding his agenda in Lampung, Jokowi stated the entire schedule had been prepared by volunteers and PSI. “The event rundown has been arranged, both by the volunteers and PSI. It will be packed,” said the former Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) cadre. Jokowi plans to stay in Lampung for three days. He previously announced plans to visit various regions, claiming the activities were to fulfil public invitations. After Lampung, Jokowi will continue his blusukan to East Nusa Tenggara and West Java. Sarhani, Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of the Nusantara People’s Brigade in Lampung Province, said Jokowi’s visit was based on public demand. “We invited him because we received a lot of information and input from the general public wanting a visit from Mr Jokowi after his post-presidential term,” he said on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. Sarhani added that Jokowi was coming as an ordinary citizen and the visit contained no political agenda. He said supporting volunteers would erect billboards to welcome Jokowi to the southernmost part of Sumatra. During his three days in Lampung, Jokowi will not only meet volunteers and traditional leaders. The 7th president is scheduled to visit several places, including the Al Qodiri Islamic Boarding School in Central Lampung, Kota Gajah Market in Central Lampung, the Transmigration Museum in Pesawaran, a Cultural Parade in East Lampung, and the Darussalamah Braja Dewa Islamic Boarding School.
