Jokowi Dons PSI Attire During Lampung Visit, Outlines Agenda

There was something different during the departure of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, to Lampung on Friday (26/6). Jokowi was seen wearing a hat and shirt bearing the logo of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) as he began his agenda of visits and meetings with residents in the province.

Jokowi departed from Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo towards Lampung. He stated that he would be in Lampung for three days with a number of agendas prepared alongside volunteers and the PSI.

“The event rundown has been created; from the volunteers and the PSI, everything is already packed,” said Jokowi on Friday (26/6).

During his visit, Jokowi stated that his presence in the PSI agenda aimed to provide motivation to the cadres of the party led by Kaesang Pangarep.

He assessed that strengthening the party structure is a vital matter in facing the 2029 General Election. According to Jokowi, a complete party structure is necessary so that the PSI can work more solidly as a political organisation.

“As for the PSI, I want to act as a motivator, and also convey important messages regarding the need for the PSI structure to be completed soon, so that it becomes a large political machine,” Jokowi said.

In addition to strengthening the internal party, the former Governor of Jakarta also emphasised the importance of increasing the political awareness of the public.

“Furthermore, awakening the political awareness of the community is also important,” he added.

Regarding the PSI attire he was wearing, Jokowi mentioned that the shirt and hat were gifts from the General Chair of PSI, Kaesang Pangarep.

“Yes, they were sent by Chairman Kaesang, so I am wearing them,” he concluded.
