Jokowi Dons PSI Attire During Lampung Visit, Outlines Agenda
Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo departed for Lampung on Friday (26/6) wearing a cap and shirt bearing the logo of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) as he began a series of visits and meetings with residents in the province. Jokowi departed from Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo heading to Lampung. He mentioned he would be in Lampung for three days with a number of agendas prepared together with volunteers and PSI. “The event schedule has been arranged, both from the volunteers and PSI, everything is packed,” Jokowi said on Friday (26/6). During the visit, Jokowi said his presence at the PSI agenda was aimed at providing motivation to cadres of the party led by Kaesang Pangarep. He assessed that strengthening the party structure is crucial in facing the 2029 General Election. According to Jokowi, a complete party structure is necessary so that PSI can work more solidly as a political organisation. “For PSI, I want to provide motivation and also convey important messages that the structural organisation within PSI must be completed soon, so it becomes a large political machine,” Jokowi said. Besides strengthening the party’s internal structure, the former Governor of Jakarta also stressed the importance of increasing the public’s political awareness. “Then also awakening the political awareness of the community, that is also important,” he said. Regarding the PSI attributes he was wearing, Jokowi said the shirt and cap were gifts from PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. “I was sent these by Chairman Kaesang, so I wore them,” he concluded.
