Jokowi diploma case: Rismon Sianipar proposes restorative justice
Jakarta — The Jakarta Metro Police’s Directorate of Criminal Investigation confirmed that one of the suspects in the case involving allegations of forged diplomas of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar (RHS), has formally requested restorative justice.
“It is true that one of the suspects, RHS, together with his legal counsel, visited us today to inquire about the progress of a letter that had previously been submitted,” said the Directorate’s head, Police Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Iman noted that several days earlier, RHS and his legal counsel submitted a request for restorative justice facilitation to the investigators.
“As facilitators, the investigators have undertaken efforts and are continuing to facilitate the request submitted by suspect RHS,” he explained.
Previously, the Jakarta Metro Police had updated the case status of the second cluster of suspects in the alleged diploma forgery case involving President Widodo — namely Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma.
“On Monday, 2 February, the case file for the second cluster suspects, Roy Suryo and others, was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office, but it was returned,” said the Jakarta Metro Police’s public relations head, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Tuesday, 11 March.
“This is a step taken by investigators who have thoroughly studied the case, as the Prosecutor’s Office has asked us to conduct deeper investigation. We are awaiting the investigators to continue working on the process of deepening witness and expert witness statements,” he said.
Regarding whether new witnesses will be presented, Budi noted that the team will continue to deepen the investigation, particularly with existing witnesses.
“We are also awaiting any witnesses that the suspects may present. We will certainly conduct this investigation openly so that everyone receives equal treatment under the law,” Budi said.
