Jokowi Confirmed to Attend MPR Annual Session Tomorrow, Prabowo to Deliver State Address
Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo has confirmed he will attend the MPR Annual Session and the joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), scheduled for Friday (14/8/2026).
The confirmation was conveyed by Acting Secretary General of the MPR, Siti Fauziah, who has delivered an official invitation to Jokowi to attend the state agenda.
“He said, God willing, he will attend the MPR Annual Session and the joint DPR-DPD session, God willing he will be present,” said Siti Fauziah, as quoted from the @mprgoid Instagram account on Thursday (13/8/2026).
The MPR Annual Session and the joint DPR-DPD session will take place at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. The agenda is part of a series of state events ahead of the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence.
During the agenda, Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a state address and present the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget (APBN).
Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that Indonesia’s 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will not attend the 81st Independence Day celebration at Merdeka Palace on 17 August 2026. This is because SBY is currently undergoing a health examination.
“Yes, a medical check-up, actually just a routine examination, so it is most likely that he will not attend the Proclamation Seconds ceremony,” said Prasetyo at Merdeka Palace on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
