The Acting Secretary General of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Siti Fauziah, personally delivered the invitation to the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI) to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The invitation was presented at Jokowi’s private residence in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday (12/8).

Siti Fauziah stated that her visit to Solo was a mandate from the MPR leadership to ensure the attendance of the former head of state at the state agenda. After receiving the invitation, Jokowi expressed his willingness to attend the session scheduled for Friday, 14 August 2026.

“He (Jokowi) conveyed that, God willing, he will attend the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD. God willing, he will be present,” said Siti Fauziah in an official statement received in Jakarta.

This step is part of the official protocol of the MPR RI, which requires invitations to be delivered to all former presidents and vice presidents of the Republic of Indonesia. Siti emphasised that similar invitations were also sent to all national figures who have held the country’s top leadership positions.

“We also formally extend invitations to all former presidents and vice presidents to attend this MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD,” she added.

The main agenda of the 2026 MPR RI Annual Session will focus on a number of key speeches. In addition to addresses from the Speaker of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani, the Speaker of the DPR RI, and the Speaker of the DPD RI Sultan B. Najamudin, the highlight of the agenda is the state address by President Prabowo Subianto.

During the session, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver a performance report on state institutions as a form of government transparency and accountability to the people through parliament.
