Jokowi Confident PSI Will Secure DPR Seats in 2029 Election
Former President Joko Widodo believes that the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) will succeed in securing seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) during the 2029 legislative elections. The father of PSI Chairperson Kaesang Pangarep made these remarks during a Regional Coordination Meeting of the PSI Regional Leadership Council of Tulang Bawang, Lampung, on Friday, 26 June 2026.
According to Jokowi, PSI has the opportunity to meet the parliamentary threshold if all its cadres work together to demonstrate the party’s role within society. He encouraged all officials, from the central leadership (DPP) to regional, district, branch, and sub-district levels, to act as the driving force for PSI.
“If we do this together, from the DPP, DPW, DPD, DPC, down to the DPRt level, I am confident that in 2029, regarding the issue of entering parliament—I will not get ahead of myself, but I dare to ensure that it will definitely enter parliament,” said Jokowi.
The former Mayor of Solo noted that PSI has set ambitious targets to enter Senayan (the Parliament). He urged all cadres and officials to work diligently to achieve these goals.
“However, as for the specific numbers, we have a large target. It is a high target, and therefore everyone must work hard,” he added.
Jokowi expressed his appreciation for Kaesang Pangarep and the PSI officials for organising the coordination meeting in Lampung. He also commended the PSI Tulang Bawang Regional Leadership Council for completing its organisational structure down to the village level.
The former PDIP politician believes that a complete structure is a party’s strength when competing in elections. “Structure is very important for an organisation. If we have a political engine that reaches the village level, what does that mean? It means we have an engine with a large CC (cubic capacity),” he remarked.
However, to achieve the desired results, Jokowi advised cadres to demonstrate their presence within the community in daily life. This includes activities such as visiting the sick, attending funerals, and participating in wedding celebrations. “Actions like these are what will bring a good reputation to PSI,” he concluded.
