Jokowi Confident PSI Will Secure DPR Seats in 2029 Election

Former President Joko Widodo is confident that the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) will succeed in securing seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) during the 2029 legislative election. The father of PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep made the statement at a Regional Coordination Meeting of the PSI Tulang Bawang Regional Executive Board in Lampung on Friday, 26 June 2026. According to Jokowi, PSI has a chance to meet the parliamentary threshold if all its cadres work together to demonstrate the party’s role within society. He encouraged all levels of management, from the central executive board down to the branch level, to become the party’s driving force. “If we do this together, from the DPP, DPW, DPD, DPC, to the DPRt, we work together, I am confident that in 2029 PSI, I won’t jump the gun, but I dare to ensure it will definitely enter parliament,” he said. The former Mayor of Solo stated that PSI has a significant target to qualify for Senayan. He called on all PSI cadres and administrators to work towards achieving this goal. “But the number we desire, we have a big target. A high target, therefore everyone must work hard,” he added. Jokowi also praised Kaesang Pangarep and the PSI board for organising the coordination meeting in Lampung. He commended the PSI Tulang Bawang Regional Executive Board for completing its structure down to the village level. The former PDIP politician noted that a complete structure is the party’s strength to compete in electoral contests. “Structure is very important for an organisation. If we have a political machine down to the village level, what does that mean? It means we have a machine with a large CC,” he said. However, to achieve the desired results, Jokowi advised cadres to demonstrate their presence in the community in daily life. He cited examples such as visiting the sick, attending funerals, and celebrating weddings. “It is actions like these that will give PSI a good name,” he concluded.
