Former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is confident the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) will enter parliament in the 2029 election. He conveyed this while attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the PSI Tulang Bawang Regional Executive Board (DPD) in Lampung on Friday (26/6). “I am confident that if we do this together from the central executive board (DPP), provincial executive board (DPW), DPD, branch executive board (DPC) down to the sub-branch level (DPRt), we work together, I am sure that in 2029 PSI, regarding the matter of entering parliament, I am not getting ahead of myself but I dare to confirm it will definitely enter parliament,” Jokowi said, as quoted from a written statement from PSI. “But what the number will be, that is what we desire, we have a big target. A high target, therefore everyone must work hard,” he added. Jokowi appreciated the work of PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep and the ranks of the DPP, DPW, DPD and DPC for organising the Rakorda in Lampung. “Structure is very important for an organisation. If we have a political machine down to the village level, what does that mean? It means we have a machine with a large capacity. It means we have a party structure that possesses great strength. This is what I need to appreciate,” Jokowi said. Jokowi reminded that the party structure must be alive and working. He warned against having cadres without real work for the people. “For example, if a neighbour passes away, come to offer condolences. If a neighbour has a wedding, come to express shared happiness. If a relative who lives somewhat far away is ill, if necessary, take them to the hospital. Actions like these will give a good name to PSI,” he stated. Jokowi is scheduled over three days to attend PSI events and invitations from volunteers and the community in Lampung. On Saturday (27/6), Jokowi is scheduled to meet with Lampung traditional leaders. He will also conduct activities at the Transmigration Museum and Bagelen Village. In addition, Jokowi will visit micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Maliosewu and attend a volunteer event in Lampung. On the third day, Sunday (28/6), Jokowi is scheduled to attend a cultural parade, meet UMKM and visit the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School.
