Jokowi Celebrates Eid in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo, along with Iriana Jokowi, will celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in Jakarta. Jokowi plans to attend Eid prayers at the Al-Bina Grand Mosque, Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta.

“Mr and Mrs (Jokowi and Iriana) will perform prayers at GBK on Saturday, 21 March,” stated Jokowi’s aide, Police Commissioner General Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, when contacted on Friday, 20 March 2026, in a short message to Tempo.

Syarif has not confirmed whether the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will meet with President Prabowo Subianto for halal bihalal. Jokowi and Iriana departed for Jakarta on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

The pair will remain in Jakarta until 24 March 2026. The moment of Jokowi and Iriana’s departure from Solo to Jakarta was posted on the former Solo Mayor’s Instagram account on Friday, 20 March 2026. Jokowi will spend the Eid festivities gathering with family and his grandchildren in Jakarta.

“To gather with family, catch up, especially with the grandchildren who always bring cheer and new stories,” said Jokowi via his Instagram account on the platform.

Last Eid in 2025, Jokowi celebrated the holiday in Solo. Together with Iriana, Jokowi performed Eid prayers at a mosque near their home in Sumber Ward. Several prominent figures visited Jokowi’s residence at that time. For instance, Prabowo’s only son, Didit Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo or Didit Prabowo, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan.
