Jokowi Candid About Lampung Visit: I Came for PSI

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), revealed the reason behind his visit to Lampung Province. In front of cadres of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Jokowi openly stated that one of the purposes of his arrival was to provide support to the party. The statement was made while attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the PSI Mesuji Regency DPD on Friday afternoon, 26 June 2026. “Why did I come to Lampung Province? Why did I come to Mesuji Regency? Firstly, my love for the people of Lampung has not faded, it remains. And secondly, more importantly, also for PSI!” he said on Friday. Jokowi’s remarks were immediately met with cheers from the Rakorda participants who packed the event venue. On that occasion, Jokowi revealed that Lampung was the first province he visited as a form of appreciation for the party’s organisational consolidation achievements in the area. According to him, PSI’s management structure in Lampung is almost complete down to the village level, unlike several other regions which he said are still in the completion stage. “I want to give high appreciation, respect and honour to the General Chairperson, the DPW Chairperson, the DPD Chairperson and all their ranks who have completed the party structure down to the village level. Others I see are still at 60 percent, 40 percent, here it is already almost 100 percent,” he said. Nevertheless, Jokowi reminded that completing the organisational structure is not the final goal. He asked all PSI administrators, especially in Mesuji Regency, to truly bring the organisation to life by actively being among the community. “The next step is to make that structure live and work. What does it mean to live and work? It means that you, the administrators, must always be close to the community, not just when elections are approaching, but daily you must be close to the people’s lives, for example, when there is a death, offer condolences, attend. When there is a tahlilan, attend. When there is a yasinan, be present. When there is a wedding, come and give congratulations. If there is any problem in Mesuji Regency, you can help assist and resolve it,” he said. Jokowi believes that if the party structure is truly active and working down to the grassroots level, PSI has a great opportunity to achieve maximum results in the 2029 Legislative Election.
