Jokowi Asks PSI to Support Prabowo-Gibran for Two Terms, PDIP Politician Responds
Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Central Board Chairman Bestari Barus stated that Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked the party and its sympathisers to support the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Bestari mentioned there is no ‘dual sun’ scenario following Jokowi’s plan to travel around Indonesia.
‘He conveyed to us that we are asked to support Mr Prabowo-Gibran, even for two terms. So there is no slander about there being two suns. How can there be two suns? It is nonsense,’ Bestari told reporters on Friday (18/6).
Bestari revealed the message after meeting Kaesang Pangarep’s father in Solo on Thursday (18/6) morning. Bestari said Jokowi reminded them to maintain harmony and support the ongoing Prabowo-Gibran government.
PDIP politician Guntur Romli said his party has not yet thought about the 2029 General Election. ‘PDI Perjuangan is not yet thinking about the 2029 Election. The instruction from the Chairwoman (Megawati Soekarnoputri) is that we must move at the grassroots level, cry and laugh with the people, and become a solution to the economic, political and social problems in society,’ Guntur Romli said when contacted on Saturday (20/6/2026).
Guntur stressed that for PDIP, politics is not about power. Moreover, he said, such a request was conveyed far too early. ‘For PDI Perjuangan, politics is not about power, let alone talking prematurely about the 2029 Election, but truly a struggle for the people,’ he stated.
