Jokowi and Gibran Travel in the Same Car After Meeting Prabowo at the Istana Merdeka
Jakarta – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka accompanied the 7th President Joko Widodo in one car after both fulfilled invitations for a Silaturahmi and Diskusi Kebangsaan with President Prabowo Subianto at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Tuesday night, 3 March 2026.
On the side yard of Istana Merdeka, Jokowi first stepped out from the meeting area around 23:15 WIB. The former president, wearing a long batik shirt and a black peci, walked toward the vehicle while chatting with 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who had previously accompanied him during the 2019-2024 administration. Behind Jokowi-Ma’ruf, the 11th Vice President Boediono was seen walking in line.
At the end of the corridor, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya greeted Jokowi and bade farewell before escorting Jokowi to the black sedan. Not long after, Vice President Gibran, Jokowi’s eldest son, joined in the car and entered via another door.
Jokowi attended the Silaturahmi and Diskusi Kebangsaan invitation hosted by President Prabowo together with other former presidents, including President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and former vice presidents Jusuf Kalla, Boediono, and Ma’ruf Amin.
Meanwhile Gibran accompanied Prabowo during the meeting, which lasted about 3.5 hours.
President Prabowo Subianto led the agenda of the Silaturahmi and Diskusi Kebangsaan, attended by several former presidents, the chairmen of political parties, former foreign ministers and members of the Kabinet Merah Putih at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Tuesday night.
The president sat at the centre of the main table with Jokowi to his right and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to his left. The Chairman of MPR Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the DPR Puan Maharani, and Chairman of DPD Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, along with other members of the Kabinet Merah Putih, sat around the table facing the Head of State.
Several ministers of the Kabinet Merah Putih who attended included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who sat in the same row as Minister of Social Affairs Saifulah Yusuf, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Minister of Investment and Hilirisasi who is also CEO of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
