Jokowi Affirms He Is Ready to Work Tirelessly for PSI's Victory

Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has affirmed his commitment to fully supporting the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Responding to plans for a formal ‘jacket-donning’ ceremony, Jokowi expressed his readiness to work hard for the victory of the party now led by his son, Kaesang Pangarep. This statement came following remarks by PSI Daily Chair Ahmad Ali regarding plans for a formal procession to bestow the PSI jacket upon Jokowi. According to Jokowi, although there are internal mechanisms to be followed, his main focus is fulfilling every invitation and aspiration coming from the party. ‘In PSI, there is a party mechanism that must be followed. It’s not just a direct jacket ceremony. The most important thing is that I will attend all invitations I receive, from the community, from PSI,’ Jokowi stressed when met in Solo, Central Java, on Friday (19/6/2026). Jokowi has frequently been seen attending various events of the rose-logoed party. However, he explained that his presence so far has been in the capacity of a motivator for the young PSI cadres. ‘Yes, as a motivator,’ Jokowi said with a laugh when asked about his status in attending various PSI activities recently. Nevertheless, Jokowi did not hide his ambition to help PSI achieve maximum results in the upcoming political contest. He emphasised that he would exert all efforts to help the party win in every region he visits. ‘As I have said at the congress, at the national working meeting, I will work tirelessly for PSI,’ he concluded. Previously, PSI Daily Chair Ahmad Ali had given a strong signal that Jokowi was already considered an integral part of the party. For him, the jacket-donning procession is merely an administrative and ceremonial formality. ‘The jacket ceremony or whatever it is called is just a ceremonial form. Because if we follow the series of statements by Mr Jokowi about PSI, I think it is a form of statement that should be interpreted as Jokowi being part of PSI,’ Ahmad Ali stated in Jakarta some time ago. Jokowi’s open declaration of working tirelessly for PSI is predicted to have a significant electoral impact for the party, given his still large loyal voter base across various regions.
