Jokowi Accepts Apology from Rismon Sianipar; Legal Counsel Confirms Diploma is Genuine
Former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has formally accepted an apology from Rismon Sianipar regarding allegations of a forged diploma that previously caused public controversy. This was confirmed by Widodo’s legal counsel, Yakup Hasibuan, following a meeting between the two parties at Widodo’s residence in Solo on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Yakup explained that during the meeting, Rismon openly acknowledged his error and expressed his conviction that Joko Widodo’s diploma is genuine.
“In essence, the meeting was a courtesy visit and Mr Rismon took the opportunity to apologise to Mr Jokowi for his allegations regarding Mr Jokowi’s diploma. He emphasised his conviction that Mr Jokowi’s diploma is authentic,” said Yakup Hasibuan in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
In response to the apology, Yakup stated that Jokowi graciously accepted Rismon’s request for forgiveness. However, regarding Rismon’s legal status, which is currently being processed by the police, the legal counsel will hand over the latest developments to the investigation team.
Rismon has been designated as a suspect in the case of allegations of a forged diploma against Jokowi. In addition to Rismon, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa have also been designated as suspects.
“Accordingly, Mr Jokowi also accepted the apology. We as legal counsel will inform the investigators regarding this matter for consideration by the investigators,” he added.
