Nabire (ANTARA) - A joint operation by the Rajawali Mambri Task Force of the TNI and the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force of the Polri has successfully neutralised one member of the armed criminal group (KKB) in the Bukit Signal area near Kali Pepaya, Nabire Regency, Central Papua.

The Damai Cartenz Operation Public Relations Task Force Commander, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, when contacted from Nabire on Wednesday, stated that the firm and measured action by the TNI-Polri resulted in the death of Hurbianus Mirip, a KKB member from the Kodap III D Dulla group led by Aibon Kogoya, on Monday (16/3).

“Hurbianus Mirip was a KKB member of Kodap III D Dulla who has been on the wanted list (DPO) since 2025 and is suspected of being involved in various armed violent actions in the Nabire and Paniai areas,” he said.

He stated that Hurbianus Mirip is suspected of involvement in a long series of criminal acts, including the murder of two Brimob personnel on 13 August 2025, accompanied by the seizure of two AK-101 firearms.

In addition, the group is also suspected of being involved in shootings against civilians and security forces in the Kali Semen area on 17 October 2025, as well as a roadblock action on the Trans Nabire–Paniai Road at KM 58 on 20 October 2025.

He added that the group was also involved in a firefight with security forces in the Bukit Doa area on 27 November 2025.

Not only that, the group is also suspected of carrying out an attack on a TNI security post in the PT Kristalin area on 21 February 2026, which resulted in the death of one TNI personnel and one civilian, along with the seizure of three firearms.

“In addition to armed actions, the group is also suspected of assaulting a police officer in Enarotali Market, Paniai Regency,” he said.

The Head of the Damai Cartenz 2026 Operation, Brigadier General of Police Faizal Ramadhani, emphasised that the TNI-Polri apparatus will continue to maintain security stability in Central Papua from various armed group threats.

“The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force together with the Rajawali Mambri Task Force will continue to safeguard public security and ensure the situation remains conducive,” he stated.

The Deputy Head of the Damai Cartenz 2026 Operation, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, urged the public to remain calm and not to be easily influenced by unverified information.

“We invite the public to continue maintaining public order and security and to immediately report any suspicious activities,” he said.

Security forces have assured that they will continue to monitor developments in several areas of Central Papua to maintain security stability and provide a sense of safety for the public.
