Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Forestry, through the Central Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Kalteng), alongside the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) Nyaru Menteng and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) team, conducted a two-day rescue operation on 25-26 September. The mission aimed to save a female orangutan named Novita, who was trapped in a forest and land fire (karhutla) in the Katune area, Palangka Raya.

The four-year-old female orangutan had been clinging to a tree and sustained burns to both her arms and legs.

After providing first aid to Novita, the joint team transported the animal to the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre for intensive medical treatment and observation.
