Joint team arrests suspect in police attack during Katingan drug raid

A joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police has arrested a man with the initials S, also known as A, suspected of involvement in an attack on a member of the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit during a raid on a drug dealer in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Tengah District, on Thursday (2/7). “It is correct, based on information from the team in the field, the joint team has successfully secured one suspected perpetrator,” said Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan in Katingan on Friday. According to field reports, the suspect was arrested at a floating gold dredge in the Tumbang Pariyei Village area, Katingan Tengah District, Katingan Regency. The suspect had been a target of the manhunt following the incident that resulted in the death of a police officer. During the arrest, the suspect was with his wife and acted cooperatively when officers asked him to surrender. The suspect, identified as A, is now in custody for further investigation regarding his alleged involvement in the attack on the police. The joint forces are still pursuing several other individuals believed to have participated in the assault. “The other suspects are still being pursued by the joint team. We will continue to develop the case until all those involved are apprehended,” he said. The police chief added that solving this case is a priority following the death of Aipda (Posthumous) Yudhie Perdana Putra, who was killed while carrying out a drug eradication operation in the Katingan region. He is committed to investigating the case thoroughly and has asked the public for their support and prayers for the safety of officers in the field. “We are committed to investigating this case to its conclusion and ensuring that all perpetrators are held accountable for their actions in accordance with the applicable legal process,” Iwan said.
