Jakarta (ANTARA) - A joint task force within the West Jakarta city government has once again dredged mud sediment from the connecting drainage channel (Phb) along Jalan KH Moh. Mansyur, Jembatan Lima, Tambora, West Jakarta, on Sunday.

West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the dredging was carried out because the Phb channel leading to the Kali Krukut was not functioning normally due to shallowing and being filled with rubbish.

“Today, we are addressing this in an integrated manner to resolve the rubbish or sediment issues obstructing the channel. If there is no rubbish, the water can flow smoothly, but the density of rubbish and sediment blocks the water flow,” Iin said in Jakarta on Sunday.

In addition to cleaning the connecting channel, her team also cleaned the area in front of Jembatan Lima Market, which was also filled with market waste.

As a follow-up, Iin said she would soon coordinate with the managers of Jembatan Lima Market regarding the handling of market waste issues.

“Let us all work together; this requires everyone to collaborate to achieve zero flooding and puddles in West Jakarta. It needs collaboration and integration from all parties,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, Tambora Sub-District Head Pangestu Aji Swandhanu explained that the community service activity involved cleaning mud sediment along Jalan KH Moh Mansyur, spanning 450 metres, in the areas of RW 01, 02, and 08 in Jembatan Lima.

The activity involved 210 joint personnel, including elements from the Water Resources Sub-Department, Environment, Road Infrastructure, Civil Service Police Unit, Transportation, Parks and City Forest, Satpol PP, as well as PPSU.

Additionally, two units of heavy equipment and eleven trucks for transporting mud and rubbish were deployed.

“The cleaning of the channel mud, which has not been cleaned for nearly 17 years, also involved community elements,” he said.
