Joint task force cracks down on illegal parking in West Jakarta's Palmerah area

A joint task force of 30 personnel carried out an operation against illegal parking and street vendor stalls on Jalan Kota Bambu Raya, Kota Bambu Utara Urban Village, Palmerah District, West Jakarta, on Thursday. Palmerah District Satpol PP Head Rojikin said the operation involved officers from the Transportation Agency, Satpol PP, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and the National Police. “As a result, 28 illegally parked two-wheeled vehicles and 15 violating street vendor stalls were dealt with,” Rojikin said in Jakarta on Thursday. He detailed that of the 28 two-wheeled vehicles, six were impounded using nets and the remaining 22 were subjected to a valve stem removal operation. “This activity is for the sake of public comfort and order,” he stated. Rojikin added that the enforcement is expected to educate the public not to occupy pavements or road shoulders for parking or setting up business stalls. Besides disrupting comfort and order, their presence also has the potential to cause traffic congestion. “We urge the public to obey traffic regulations and not to park or trade on pavements or roadways. Violations will be dealt with firmly,” he concluded.
