Jakarta (ANTARA) - Joint personnel from the East Jakarta City Government, TNI, and Polri have carried out an enforcement operation against illegal parking and unauthorised parking attendants at two locations within the East Jakarta region.

“Today’s action is a follow-up to the enforcement activities regarding illegal parking and unauthorised parking attendants in the East Jakarta Administrative City, specifically targeting two locations today,” stated the Head of the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Harlem Simanjuntak, at the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department office on Monday.

The activity is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain traffic order, reduce congestion, and ensure that public spaces are used according to their intended purpose. Harlem noted that the targets for this enforcement include all parking locations that are not in designated areas and have the potential to disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.

In executing the operation, the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department collaborated with various relevant agencies to ensure the activity proceeded effectively and concondly. “Our target is all parking that is indeed not in its proper place,” said Harlem.

Due to the vastness of the East Jakarta area, officers divided the operational area into two zones. Zone A focused on the Jatinegara area, while Zone B targeted the Kramat Jati area. “Because the East Jakarta region is quite large, we divided the enforcement into two zones today. These zones are among the primary points of concern regarding the presence of illegal parking and illegal parking attendant activities,” Harlem explained.

Two-wheeled vehicles found in illegal parking locations were transported by officers to the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department office, to be subsequently handed over to the police for further legal action according to existing authority. Meanwhile, four-wheeled vehicles violating parking regulations were towed to the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department office to undergo the official examination process (BAP) and further enforcement.

A total of 150 personnel were deployed in this joint operation, comprising members of the Transportation Agency, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Social Sub-Department, as well as TNI and Polri personnel, who were tasked with monitoring, enforcement, and security throughout the activity.

Harlem expressed hope that these routine enforcement actions would increase public awareness regarding parking regulations, while simultaneously suppressing illegal parking practices that frequently cause congestion and disturb public order in East Jakarta. “Through this joint operation, the government also reaffirms its commitment to continuously maintain traffic order and create an urban environment that is more organised, safe, and comfortable for all road users,” Harlem concluded.
