A joint SAR team is searching for one person swept away by flood currents in Bakti Seraga Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali, on Friday (12/6). The victim, identified as Ricardo Razaq Alghivieri (20), is a university student.

The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office received the information at 13:55 WITA. "We received information about a person being swept away by flood currents from Mr Waskita, with the incident estimated to have occurred around 12:30 WITA," explained the Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya.

The flood caused a strong current in the river behind the victim’s house, which struck part of his residence located at Griya Mahadewa Housing Block A4. Local residents conducted an initial search for the victim but were unsuccessful. The victim’s family subsequently reported the incident.

"We responded swiftly by dispatching eight personnel from the Buleleng SAR Post to the location," Sidakarya added. The distance from the Buleleng SAR Post to the housing complex is considerable, with a travel time of approximately one and a half hours.

As of now, search efforts have been carried out by sweeping the river from the incident location northwards towards Pantai Indah, but no signs of the unfortunate student have been found. The ongoing SAR operation involves elements from the Buleleng Search and Rescue Post, the Buleleng Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Buleleng Police Sector, the victim’s family, and the local community.
