Joint SAR Team Expands Search, Scouring 3,243.7 Square Nautical Miles

The Joint SAR team has expanded its search area, covering four main sectors and one special sector, totalling approximately 3,243.7 square nautical miles. The mission is to locate five journalists, two crew members, and a guide who were reported to have lost contact while covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

During the operation in the waters of the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, Lampung, on Friday (11/09/2026), Indonesian Navy personnel from KRI Kerambit-627 were observed attempting to retrieve floating objects found during the search for the missing fast boat.
