Joint SAR Team Evacuates Five Residents from Floods in Aia Pacah, Padang

A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team evacuated five residents trapped by flooding in the Aia Pacah area of Padang City on Monday night. The operation was triggered by heavy rainfall that caused water to overflow and inundate residential areas and a local mosque.

The evacuees, consisting of two toddlers and three adults, were rescued from the Nurul Falah Mosque area in RT 03 RW 04, Aia Pacah, Koto Tangah District, at around 9:10 PM local time. The rescue mission was carried out under the command of the Padang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Emergency and Logistics Task Force, with support from a joint SAR team comprising personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Fire Department, Koto Tangah District officials, Aia Pacah Village government, the Disaster Preparedness Group (KSB), and local volunteers.

Ricki Januar, Head of Emergency and Logistics at BPBD Padang City, confirmed that all five residents were successfully evacuated and relocated to a safe area away from the floodwaters for initial health checks. The Padang City Government, through the BPBD Operations Control Centre, has urged the public to remain alert to the potential for extreme weather and to immediately contact the BPBD call centre for emergency assistance or to report disaster events.
