Joint SAR Team Evacuates Crew Member from Kool Ice Vessel in Bali Suffering from Heart Condition
A combined Search and Rescue (SAR) team successfully evacuated one crew member of the Kool Ice vessel who experienced a heart condition in Balinese waters on Friday 27 February. The evacuation was carried out by deploying a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) from Benoa Port waters.
The victim was identified as Carl Mauricio Montevirgen, 45, a Filipino national. The interception point was determined at coordinates 8°46.351’S - 115°14.884’E. The process of transferring the victim faced difficulties due to considerable wave height. After being successfully evacuated from the vessel, the victim was brought to Disnav Dock at Benoa Port for initial examination by Benoa BBKK personnel, then referred to Siloam Hospital for further medical treatment.
Field Coordinator Arif Yuliyanto reported that the evacuation process proceeded smoothly. “The operation ran smoothly, the patient has been evacuated and brought to Siloam Hospital for further medical treatment,” said Arif Yuliyanto, the Field Coordinator.
This SAR operation involved combined elements from the Denpasar SAR Office Rescue Team, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), Maritime Police of the National Police Headquarters, the Maritime Police Directorate of the Bali Regional Police, Benoa Port VTS, Benoa Port Immigration, Benoa Port BBKK, Siloam Hospital Medical Team, and the vessel agent PT Trans Cakrawala. With the completion of the evacuation and victim care process, the SAR operation was declared complete and all involved personnel were returned to their respective units.
