Joint Prayer Kicks Off Construction of Merah Putih Bridge Phase II in Kampar
The construction of Phase II of the Merah Putih Bridge in Dusun Pulau Jambu, Pulau Jambu Village, Kampar Regency, has officially begun. The event was initiated with a joint prayer involving the community up to the school principal.
In his address, Kampar Police Chief AKBP Bobby Putra emphasised that the bridge’s construction symbolises strong synergy between the police and the community.
“This bridge is not merely a connecting facility but also a symbol of unity and hope for the people. We want the presence of the police to truly be felt by the community,” said AKBP Bobby in his statement on Friday (10/4/2026).
Amid the togetherness that has been established, the prayers offered were not only for the smooth progress of the construction but also for a better life for future generations.
“Because in essence, this bridge does not only connect two sides of the land but also connects hopes, aspirations, and the future of the community towards more tangible welfare,” Bobby stated.
Meanwhile, Pulau Jambu Village Head Syafrudin expressed appreciation for the support from all parties in the bridge’s construction.
“We are very grateful and thankful for the attention given. This bridge is greatly needed by the community to support daily activities,” he said.
The event, held around 11:00 WIB, was attended by various regional leaders, security apparatus, and community figures. Approximately 80 people were present, participating in the event from start to finish.
Also present at the location were Kampar Police Chief AKBP Bobby Putra Ramadhan Sebayang, Deputy Police Chief Rizky Hidayat, Acting Sub-District Head of Kuok represented by Social Affairs Section Head Mr Al Kudri, Bangkinang Barat Police Sector Chief Iptu Rully Chairullah, Babinsa Pulau Jambu Nazuar, Pulau Jambu Village Head Syafrudin, BPD Village Chairman Jefri, LPM Village Chairman Zul Amri, and SMPN 2 School Principal Widiawati, M.Pd.
Additionally, ninik mamak elders, community figures, village officials, contractors and workers, as well as personnel from Kampar Police Resort and Bangkinang Barat Police Sector were in attendance.
The bridge, located in Dusun Pulau Jambu, serves as the lifeline for residents’ activities, connecting access between regions, particularly for economic, educational, and healthcare services. However, the previous bridge’s condition was no longer safe and even posed risks to users, often becoming a serious obstacle for the community.
Local residents had to be extra cautious when crossing, especially during the rainy season when the bridge structure becomes slippery and prone to damage. Given this condition, the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge becomes an urgent step as well as a long-term solution that has been eagerly awaited by the community.
