Joint Personnel Increase Night Patrols to Anticipate Brawls in Jatinegara
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Joint personnel have increased patrols alongside the three pillars at night to anticipate brawls between youth groups in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta.
“Following the three pillars briefing, we conducted patrols with the three pillars along routes in brawl-prone points in Jatinegara Subdistrict,” said the Head of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Jatinegara Subdistrict, Teguh Nurdin Amali, in Jakarta on Thursday.
Teguh stated that the brawl incident that occurred on Monday (20/4) had actually been anticipated by the police, namely by conducting condition assessment briefings for the three pillars’ elements on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in the courtyard of the East Jakarta Police Resort (Polres) headquarters.
The brawl occurred after the traffic officers completed their joint patrol. This has become a pattern among the perpetrators who have observed and monitored the presence of officers.
In conducting the patrols, the three pillars’ elements are also assisted by related units, such as the Community Protection and Security Unit (Pokdarkamtibmas), Community Guidance Unit (Siskomas), Traffic Unit (Satlinmas), and other community components.
Furthermore, there are five Jakarta Anti-Brawl Guard Posts in Jatinegara Subdistrict, namely the Deprok Market Post in Cipinang Muara Ward, the Pump House Post in Cipinang Besar Utara Ward, the Head of Ward’s Official Residence (Rudin) Post in Cipinang Besar Utara Ward.
Then the Serong Bridge Post in Cipinang Besar Selatan Ward, and the Tongtek Post in Kampung Melayu Ward.
Meanwhile, Jatinegara Police Sector Chief, Commissioner Samsono, said that in the incident on Monday (20/4) early morning, no brawl perpetrators were arrested.
Based on field investigation results, it is suspected that the two youth groups intending to brawl at that time were residents of Mayong Street and Remaja Street in Cipinang Besar Utara (CBU) Ward.
They had not yet engaged in physical confrontation and had only threatened each other. They also carried several sharp weapons, but none were secured because they managed to escape.
“No brawl had occurred yet and they only threatened each other. So far, no one has been secured because the perpetrators immediately fled,” said Samsono.
According to him, to anticipate brawl cases in that location, his side has also increased night patrols.
Even police officers in uniform or plainclothes are guarding several points along DI Panjaitan Street in the Jatinegara area.
