Joint Patrol Secures Three Men Suspected of Crystal Meth Use in North Jakarta

A joint patrol team from Company 4, B Battalion of the Brimob Polda Metro Jaya Pioneers, alongside the North Jakarta Metro Police, secured three men suspected of abusing crystal methamphetamine during a routine patrol in the early hours of Friday.

Commander of the Brimob Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, explained in a statement on Friday that the three men were detained as officers swept through the Warakas area, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, at approximately 03:00 WIB.

“The presence of officers among the community is both a preventive measure and a rapid response to potential disturbances to public order and security. This ensures that the public can carry out their activities more safely and comfortably,” said Henik.

He explained that the discovery began when the joint officers conducted inspections of several suspicious individuals at the location. Following a search, officers found evidence including crystal methamphetamine, lighters, and one motorcycle.

To face legal accountability for their actions, the three men were immediately taken to the North Jakarta Metro Police headquarters. Henik noted that the presence of personnel in the field is not only focused on anticipating brawls and street crime but also fully supports efforts to prevent and eradicate narcotics abuse.

After securing the three suspected drug users, the joint team continued their sweep of several other high-risk areas within North Jakarta. By the end of the patrol, officers reported that the security and public order situation remained safe, with no other significant incidents reported.

Regarding the incident, the police urged all layers of society to avoid all forms of drug abuse. “Citizens are also requested to report immediately if they witness suspicious activities in their environment through the Polri 110 Call Centre, which operates 24 hours a day and is toll-free,” Henik added.
