Joint Operation Targets Illegal Traffic Controllers in West Jakarta

A joint team has been deployed to monitor and take action against illegal traffic controllers, or ‘pak ogah’, at the Rawa Buaya toll exit and other vulnerable points such as intersections. Head of the Cengkareng District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Sukarlan, stated that the presence of these individuals has frequently drawn complaints from road users, who consider them a disruption to traffic flow and a potential safety hazard. “We have deployed a team of five to six Satpol PP officers to monitor the pak ogah. Traffic management duties are handled by Transportation Agency officers and the police,” Sukarlan said in Jakarta on Tuesday. He noted that monitoring is primarily conducted during peak hours in the morning and late afternoon. Meanwhile, Head of the Cengkareng District Transportation Sub-agency, Danu Irawadi, confirmed that his team has followed up on public reports highlighting the activities of these unofficial traffic controllers in Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. “We have taken action by issuing warnings to the pak ogah, in accordance with Gubernatorial Instruction Number 53 of 2014 concerning the guidance, control, and supervision of social welfare service recipients, by reprimanding illegal parking attendants and pak ogah,” he explained. Several personnel have been assigned to conduct routine patrols at locations prone to pak ogah activity in the Rawa Buaya area, including deploying two to three Transportation Agency officers around the Cengkareng traffic light intersection.
