Joining the "open house", several ojek drivers are proud to celebrate Eid at the Palace

According to information from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) received in Jakarta on Saturday, ride-hailing driver named Sukma said he learned about the distribution of aid packages at the State Palace from fellow drivers before coming directly to pay respects and hope to receive the aid. “Some participants already got it first, standing by at Djuanda Station. There’s news that Mr President is distributing aid,” he said during the open house at the State Palace on Saturday. Sukma also expressed his joy and gratitude for being given the opportunity to visit the palace while receiving the aid. “Happy, thrilled, hard to describe. Definitely proud,” he revealed. Not only that, Sukma also said he was proud to have the chance to enter the palace. “Proud, as a citizen, proud. Almost 60 years old, this is the first time entering the President’s Palace,” he stated. Similar sentiments were expressed by Abel, another ride-hailing driver who joined the open house today. He said he was invited to the palace to attend the open house and collect the aid. As ride-hailing drivers, Sukma and Abel also shared their hopes for Indonesia’s future. “So that it’s better (Indonesia), everything is made easier, prices can be affordable,” said Sukma. Abel also hoped that his life along with fellow ojek drivers would improve. “Hopefully in the future it’s better, especially for us ojek drivers,” said Abel. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah open house today. The number of attendees is estimated to reach 5,000 people. The government did not impose strict restrictions on the event, but rather provided the widest possible opportunity for the public to attend voluntarily.
