JAKARTA — The chair of the Commission for Accelerated Polri Reform, Jimly Asshiddiqie, plans to report the commission’s work during an iftar gathering with President Prabowo Subianto and senior clerics at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The report follows a morning meeting of the commission. He was invited as chair of the Advisory Council of ICMI.

“I myself today morning had finished a meeting of the Commission for Accelerated Polri Reform. I want to report to him; we are ready to present the results of the Commission’s reform. If this was a private invitation only,” Jimly said at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

“Later I want to whisper, to ask for time,” he added.

“Initially, he planned to meet the President before the Head of State’s visit to the United States at the end of February. But due to time constraints, the report could be delivered now. ‘Because of his busy schedule, and this is a period of conflict, so before going to America was the plan, but it turned out not possible; we had promised to report after returning from America. Eh, turns out there is a war,’ he said.

“Nevertheless, there are important decisions that need to be reviewed by President Prabowo. ‘There are decisions we cannot decide by ourselves. We need to report first, receive guidance from him. That’s why I am using this, the iftar this afternoon, to have a discreet talk so that the President can provide time to resolve the issue, one domestic issue,’ he explained.

“Previously reported, the chair of the Commission for Accelerated Polri Reform, Jimly Asshiddiqie, stated that the report of the commission’s work had been completed and was ready to be handed to President Prabowo Subianto. ‘Well, if so, we are ready, finished. We have prepared it for the report to the President. Still waiting for time, waiting for the President’s schedule. It’s done,’ Jimly said at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Saturday (7 February 2026).

“The commission has formulated several recommendations, with four main points to be reported to the President. However, the reform agenda covers various aspects and is planned to run through to 2029. ‘The most important thing we report is four. But there are many others, e.g., for internal reform we target the mid-term to 2029,’ he said.

“Jimly emphasised that the Polri reform roadmap will be implemented continuously, both by the current Polri chief and his successor. ‘In short, until 2029, under the presidency of Prabowo, we, God willing, hope to have completed,’ he asserted.
