John Hancock has new president

JAKARTA (JP): Shareholders of PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera John
Hancock has named Roderick F. Haire as the insurance company's
president, replacing David W. Cottrell

A British national, Haire has over 20 years of insurance and
banking experience in the United Kingdom, Asia and the Middle
East, the insurance company said in a statement.

Cottrell, also a British national, who helped Bumiputera John
Hancock achieve record growth in sales and manpower over the past
five years, has been asked to lead Interlife John Hancock
Assurance Plc. of Thailand as its chief executive officer
beginning Feb. 5.

Haire recently served as managing director of his own
insurance and banking consultancy. Prior to that, he was the
sales director and acting marketing director of Royal and Sun
Alliance Life and Unit Trusts in the UK from 1997 to 1999.
