Joglosemarkerto Train Makes Emergency Stop in Gowok, Sleman Following Pacitan Earthquake
The Joglosemarkerto train made an emergency stop at the Gowok crossing in Depok, Sleman, this afternoon following an earthquake that shook the southeastern region of Pacitan, East Java.
Footage of the Joglosemarkerto train was uploaded to the @jogjalife Instagram account, which reported that the train’s wheels had drifted off the tracks.
“The Joglosemarkerto train experienced a worrying incident when earthquake tremors hit the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The incident occurred precisely at the Gowok level crossing on Saturday (27/6/2026). Based on initial information, the train was passing through that point when the strong tremors occurred,” the account stated.
“The tremors were so palpable that they caused the train wheels to slightly move off the tracks. There were no collisions with other vehicles, crossing gates, or buildings alongside the tracks. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities among passengers. Immediately after the incident, the driver stopped the train and reported to the control centre.”
When confirmed, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that all train services within the Daop 6 Yogyakarta region were subject to a temporary emergency stop (BLB) to allow for inspections of infrastructure and facilities following the earthquake.
KAI Daop 6 field teams immediately conducted thorough inspections of infrastructure and facilities, including bridges, tracks, and other supporting facilities, as well as the condition of the train sets. Once the field team declared all routes and tracks safe, all trains were permitted to resume their journeys.
“KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected passengers and thanks our customers for their patience during this situation,” Feni said in a written statement on Saturday (27/6/2026).
“Inspecting infrastructure and facilities post-earthquake is a mandatory procedure for KAI to ensure that safety standards are maintained.”
