Jogja Financial Festival Promotes Awareness of Digital Assets and Love Scams
Yogyakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Jogja Financial Festival 2026 drew a host of experts and speakers with a range of engaging topics. Participants were invited to manage their finances and invest wisely, understanding various aspects including the modus operandi of scammers.
In emphasising the roles of their institutions in helping society live more prosperously through policies for the financial industry, the Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, also stressed several points for attendees. Above all, never tire of learning about finance for the younger generation.
‘Whatever your ambitions may be, you must understand finance. There are engineers, doctors whose lives are in disarray because they cannot manage their finances,’ Friderica said at Jogja Financial Festival 2026 at JEC, on Friday (22/5/2026).
She continued, emphasising how the younger generation must be prudent in using technology. Given that technology now facilitates activities, it also harbours latent dangers if not monitored or understood.
‘Now you are bombarded with dangers that are very real if you do not know what you are using; you press and it becomes dangerous,’ she said.
She also underlined that the younger generation should dare to build their finances from an early age to secure their future.
In building financial assets, attendees were invited to gain a deeper understanding of digital financial assets or crypto assets. The Executive Director of Innovation Oversight for the Financial Sector, Digital Assets and Crypto Assets (ADK IAKD) at OJK, Adi Budiarso, shared tips for selecting safe digital asset instruments for the public in Indonesia. First, check the licensing of the crypto asset on the OJK website.
‘Which ones roughly have licensing? So the crypto assets are provided by traders, with transactions on the exchange. The traders with licences currently number 25. Please choose that, and select one from the 1,464 crypto assets that can be traded recorded by OJK. Check the history first, then decide,’ he insisted.
Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Aida S. Budiman noted that BI, together with OJK, has launched the Centre for Digital Innovation Indonesia (PIDI) to train Indonesia’s digital champions.
She said that since it began earlier this year, 2,300 proposals had been submitted to PIDI and more are expected to come.
‘Those trained already number 800 proposals, and each team consists of 2-5 people. So there are around 3,000 people trained over 187 hours and 22 days,’ Aida said.
Another matter worthy of attention for Jogja Financial Festival 2026 attendees and the public in general is the scam modus operandi that could cause losses in the future. Friderica also urged attendees to be vigilant about such schemes.
‘There is impersonation. Then investment scams, be careful of love scams — they are proliferating,’ she concluded.
