Jobs Hard to Find, Business Leader Reveals New Hiring Criteria in the AI Era
The advancement of AI is transforming human life, including how people work. Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu has revealed the primary requirement for working in this new world. Siu emphasised human creativity. He acknowledged that AI is disrupting the labour market, but will create more jobs and lead to greater demand for creativity. “We are born creative, and we lose creativity to conform to a system because we try to turn ourselves into machines and perform actions that tend to be routine,” he explained during the SuperAI conference in Singapore. Siu added that humans should retain the creativity they already possess. That way, people can remain free to create while AI handles its tasks. “From an optimistic perspective, it means we can all be free to create. Because machines ultimately provide what needs to be done on that side, while we can remain human,” Siu explained. The massive development of AI has raised concerns that humans will lose their jobs and be replaced by the technology. This is also evidenced by many companies carrying out layoffs citing AI. Siu said that despite the disruption, he believes AI will create more jobs. Meanwhile, Siu is optimistic regarding questions about Anthropic’s warning on the dangers of AI use. He even asserted that this is not comparable to a nuclear arms race. “Most people will use AI in beneficial ways. There will be some who do bad things and must be stopped, but to me it is not like a nuclear arms race,” he stressed.
