Jobs are scarce

Jobs are scarce

From Pikiran Rakyat

It is beyond my comprehension that educated people and skilled
laborers can be whisked aside by the power of money and nepotism.
I, for one, finished my studies and completed several vocational
training courses in the hope of gaining employment. But I failed
to get a job despite the fact I sent numerous application
letters.

In every company I visited there was a "No vacancy" notice or
I was denied access to the building by the security guards when I
wanted to see the personnel manager. In several companies, it is
necessary to have a relative in order to be admitted as an
employee. In other companies, money will open any door to
employment. School certificates are of no use in this venture.

In this context, universities are called on to be responsible
for their alumni because their hard-earned education and degrees
are regarded as having no value, as far as job seeking is
concerned.

There is a solution to this problem: self-employment. But this
is only possible for those who come from financially stable
families. My situation is different. I hoped to find employment
after completing my studies. My studies were financed with loans
that have to be repaid. How can I possibly get into business in
these circumstances? I need assistance from any party to find
employment and then I can contribute to the development of the
nation.
