Job fair in East Jakarta draws over 3,000 applicants

The East Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-agency (Nakertransgi) reported overwhelming enthusiasm at the Jakarta Timur Career Fest and Bazaar, with the number of job applications surpassing 3,000. ‘The enthusiasm is extraordinary; the total number of applications received at this year’s East Jakarta Career Fest, as of today, is 3,190,’ said Head of the East Jakarta Nakertransgi Sub-agency, Sunjaya, at the Ciracas Sports Hall on Tuesday. He noted that this figure demonstrates the high level of public interest in the available job opportunities, especially as the government presented 37 companies, ranging from state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to regional-owned enterprises (BUMD). ‘This event has approximately 2,000 job vacancies,’ Sunjaya stated. The 3,190 applicants comprised various groups of job seekers, including recent graduates, vocational and university alumni, experienced professionals, and individuals affected by layoffs. ‘Both fresh graduates and those with work experience have applied to various companies in need of workers in the DKI Jakarta Province, particularly those located in East Jakarta,’ Sunjaya explained. The event is one of the government’s efforts to connect job seekers with employers. Sunjaya expressed hope that the available job opportunities can be widely accessed, including by groups that have historically faced greater challenges in entering the job market. The East Jakarta Career Fest was held in a hybrid format, both online and offline. The online event ran from 21 July to 5 August 2026 via the career.jakarta.go.id website, while the offline event took place over two days, on Tuesday and Wednesday, 28-29 July 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. With this hybrid concept, the public does not always need to visit the venue to obtain vacancy information; job seekers can utilise the online services provided by the government. In addition to the job vacancy exhibition, the event also featured a number of support services for the public, including a talk show with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Centre (BP3MI) and the Ministry of Manpower’s Job Market Centre, a Disability Unit service, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s Job Portal service through Karier Jakarta, and the issuance of AK-1 cards, or job seeker cards. There was also a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) bazaar, a mobile library service, and a Jakarta Entrepreneur consultation.
