Jl. Braga prepares to get a shock

BANDUNG: As part of commemorations marking the 190th anniversary of Bandung, the city tourist office is holding a one- day art and street performance spectacular along the famous Jl. Braga main drag on Sept. 24.

The event, called Braga Kaget (Braga Surprise) is aimed at showing that Bandung is a great place for visitors, the head of the tourist office, Erwin Anwar said on Tuesday. "Jl. Braga will be closed to traffic on that day," he added.

The event is being organized by the tourist office, in cooperation with Bandung Heritage, Cassa Grande and the Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), Erwin said.

"The festivities will go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the afternoon," he said, adding that hotel cooks would demonstrate their skills and provide cheap and delicious meals at the same time.

"Two stages will be made available for various shows," he said. (25/sur)
