JK's Spokesperson Responds to Ade Armando's Resignation from PSI: A Lesson for Everyone
Social media activist Ade Armando has decided to resign from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) as a result of reports filed against him with the police by 40 Islamic mass organisations (ormas) regarding the alleged editing of speeches by the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK). JK’s spokesperson, Husain Abdullah, hopes this issue becomes a lesson for everyone. He initially stated that Ade Armando’s resignation from PSI is an internal matter. He noted that there are indeed connections to PSI. “Regarding Ade Armando’s resignation from his party, that falls into his internal domain. Apparently because he doesn’t want his party to be implicated,” said Husain when contacted on Wednesday (6/5/2026). He said that currently, those dealing with Ade Armando are the Islamic mass organisations that reported him to the police. He also asked all parties to wait for developments in the case. “As for the report regarding the video of Pak JK’s speech, which involves Ade Armando and others, it was filed by 40 Ormas. So currently, those involved are the reporters from the Islamic mass organisations and other groups with Ade Armando. We just wait and see how the legal process unfolds,” he stated. Nevertheless, he hopes this can serve as a lesson for everyone, not just Ade Armando. According to him, the practices carried out by Ade Armando and others should no longer be done. “Therefore, this is a lesson for everyone. Not just for Ade Armando. Practices of public deception like that, resembling agitation and propaganda aimed at leading astray public opinion, for character assassination against someone, should be stopped,” he said. He mentioned that JK’s image, long known as a peace broker, was framed in such a way by Ade Armando. According to him, the destructive impact produced by Ade Armando and others is extremely damaging. “Imagine how someone who has long been nicknamed the Peace Broker like Pak JK is framed as insulting religion, causing an uproar. Whereas what Pak JK has fought for over the years is to maintain tolerance, harmony, and peace. The destructive power is excessive. He seems to be trying to erase the legacy and social investment that Pak JK has built for years,” he emphasised. As is known, social media activist Ade Armando has resigned as a cadre of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Ade revealed the reason for his resignation from the party with the elephant logo is that attacks against him have now spread widely. Ade’s resignation as a PSI cadre was announced during a press conference with PSI’s Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali at the PSI DPP office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5). Ade said his resignation as a cadre is not due to conflict with PSI. “Through this press conference, I state that I am resigning from PSI, yes. There is no conflict between me and PSI, but I resign in my opinion for the common good,” said Ade.
