JK's Legal Action Against Rismon Over Allegations of Funding Jokowi's Diploma Case

Former Vice President of Indonesia, the 10th and 12th, Jusuf Kalla (JK), has denied allegations of being a donor to Roy Suryo and associates regarding the controversy over the fake diploma of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Feeling defamed, JK reported the allegations to Bareskrim Polri. JK reported Rismon Sianipar and four YouTube accounts to the police. The reported parties were described by JK as those spreading hoax information about him. “In the media, there is news based on statements in quotes from Mr Rismon Sianipar, that I funded Roy Suryo and his friends with Rp 5 billion to question Jokowi’s diploma,” said JK at his residence in South Jakarta on Sunday (5/4). JK emphasised that he only knows Roy Suryo, who is a former minister. JK stressed that he does not know Roy Suryo’s group that is questioning Jokowi’s diploma. “I say that is definitely and certainly not true. I have never even met Rismon, anything. Roy, because he was a former minister, I know him. But the others, no,” he said. JK’s lawyer visited Bareskrim Polri. JK’s side will report Rismon Sianipar regarding the allegations of funding Roy Suryo and others in the Jokowi diploma case. “Not only for Mr Rismon, but there are several others that we will also report,” said JK’s legal representative, Abdul Haji Talaohu, upon arriving at Bareskrim Polri on Monday (6/4/2026). Abdul said JK wants accountability from the reported parties. He said the reported parties must provide clarification. “That’s why we made this report as a serious step to respond and demand clarification accountability from him,” he explained. Three Video Evidences Attached In his report to Bareskrim today, JK’s legal team brought three pieces of video evidence to the police. “(The evidence brought) totals about three. Yes, three videos,” said Abdul. Abdul explained that this reporting plan was initiated after JK’s side heard statements from Rismon accusing JK of being the mastermind behind questioning Jokowi’s diploma. Rismon’s statement was said to have been made after he visited Jokowi’s residence in Solo. “And there he mentioned that Mr JK gave or handed over money to, if not mistaken, Roy and friends amounting to Rp 5 billion and he witnessed it. That’s why we made this report today as a serious step to respond and demand clarification accountability from him,” he explained. The other four individuals reported by JK’s side include YouTube accounts Ruang Konsensus, Musik Ciamis, Mosato TV, and YouTuber Nusantara. Abdul said these four accounts are reported because they contain untrue statements from sources that corner JK. “Yes, there is a sentence accusing Mr JK of being a loser, so to speak, thus his movement leads to unconstitutionality. This is hoax news, false news that needs to be tested,” he revealed. “Second, we will also report the owner of the YouTube channel ‘Musik Ciamis’. This one also spread the statement or remarks that we suspect were made by Rismon,” he continued. Then there is the Mosato TV account that is also reported. According to Abdul, there is content accusing JK of planning a coup. “There is a very fatal sentence according to us because there is a statement ‘Indication of hypocrisy, praise Prabowo but want to coup’. This is a straightforward question,” he said. Report Rismon Under Articles 263 and 264 of the Criminal Code JK’s side has also met with Bareskrim Polri investigators. JK’s side is now handing over the investigation of the case to the police. “So today is important, according to our plan, we have reported Rismon, met with the investigator, submitted this, the administration (report) is just technical later,” said JK’s legal representative, Abdul Haji Talaohu. Abdul said his side also complained about several YouTube channels. He said there is still data that needs to be completed before making an official report against those four YouTube channels. “Besides Rismon, there are several YouTube accounts and YouTubers that we will also complain about because there are several data that we must complete and as soon as possible we will submit the complaint. Because the articles we rely on are Articles 263 and 264 of the Criminal Code, the new one, Law No. 1 of 2023,” he explained. He said his side has consulted with Bareskrim Polri. Abdul said his side also proposed several witnesses. “The report earlier we have consulted, dissected the case with the accompaniment of the Cyber Directorate and the General Criminal Directorate, and from the case dissection, the incident, the elements are fulfilled. There is a victim in this case Mr JK, there is a suspected perpetrator in this case Mr Rismon, and the YouTube channels that uploaded the video, and several witnesses have also been conveyed to the General Criminal Directorate and the Cyber Directorate,” he said.
