JKN Programme Assists Yunita's Child in Receiving Healthcare Services
Social security plays a vital role in providing protection to the community, particularly in health matters. The presence of a health insurance programme is expected to offer a sense of security and certainty to the public when facing illnesses that require medical treatment.
This is no exception for Yunita (37), a housewife and participant in the National Health Insurance (JKN) under the Non-Wage-Earning Workers segment, registered by the Aceh Regional Government through the Aceh Health Insurance (JKA) programme. Yunita had to accompany her young child who is undergoing inpatient treatment at Cempaka Lima General Hospital in Banda Aceh.
When met in the inpatient ward of the hospital, Yunita recounted her child’s health condition that necessitated intensive hospital care. She explained that initially, the child experienced symptoms of fever, cough, and flu that worsened, making home treatment impossible.
“Initially, my child had a fever, cough, and flu that required inpatient care because it was no longer feasible to treat at home. Fortunately, I was registered by the Aceh Government into the JKN programme through JKA, so I don’t have to worry about the costs. Especially since my child has been treated for three days; if there was no BPJS Kesehatan, I wouldn’t be able to afford this treatment,” said Yunita.
Yunita stated that she and her family have always utilised the JKN programme when accessing healthcare services. Not only when her child is ill, but Yunita also used JKN during her childbirth process. According to her, the JKN programme is very helpful because all treatment costs are covered by the government, so she does not need to incur additional expenses.
“I am very grateful that my child’s treatment is covered by the Aceh Government, and I also extend my thanks to BPJS Kesehatan for providing free services that reduce our burden in seeking treatment,” said Yunita.
From the service perspective, Yunita assessed that the healthcare services she received proceeded smoothly without significant obstacles. The care provided by doctors and nurses at the hospital was felt to be satisfactory and responsive in meeting patient needs. This made Yunita feel more at ease and motivated in accompanying her child during the treatment period.
