JKN Programme Aids Wartinah's Physical and Financial Health
Semarang (ANTARA) - The National Health Insurance (JKN) programme continues to demonstrate tangible impacts in providing financial protection and medical certainty for people across the country.
“Healthcare services using JKN have proven very helpful to us,” said Wartinah, 47, a village apparatus residing in Dukuh Karanglo, Karangrejo Village, Karanggayam Subdistrict, Kebumen, Central Java, on Wednesday.
She successfully underwent breast tumour removal surgery at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Gombong without incurring any medical costs.
About a month ago, Wartinah began experiencing unusual pain in her breast area. The soreness and discomfort every time it was touched made her realise that something was wrong with her health condition.
Without delay, she immediately utilised her rights as a JKN participant by visiting the nearest community health centre. “The doctor at the health centre advised immediate referral to the hospital for more comprehensive supporting examinations. Upon arriving at the hospital, the medical team acted very quickly and responsively. After a series of observations, I was declared in need of immediate surgery,” said Wartinah.
Now, in the recovery phase, she still routinely undergoes medical check-ups every two weeks to ensure her condition remains stable. In addition to the quality of medical services, Wartinah also appreciated the digital innovations introduced by BPJS Kesehatan.
For her, the Mobile JKN application has changed the stigma of hospital queues that were previously considered exhausting. “Initially, I thought using online queues via Mobile JKN was complicated. But after trying it myself, it turned out to be very easy to access,” said Wartinah.
She could take a queue number from home, so upon arriving at the hospital, she no longer had to wait long at the registration counter. “This is very helpful for us amidst other busyness,” she said.
As the wife of a labourer and mother of three children, Wartinah admitted that without JKN, such surgery costs would have been a very heavy financial burden for her family. “My surgery yesterday was truly zero rupiah. JKN allows me to focus on healing without having to worry about costs,” she revealed.
“We at the BPJS Kesehatan Kebumen Branch greatly appreciate Mrs Wartinah’s awareness to perform early detection immediately. Her courage to seek medical attention from the initial symptoms is a crucial step that determines the success of medical treatment,” said Dina.
According to her, this proves that when the referral system runs well, patients will receive timely service certainty. Furthermore, Dina emphasised that the ease experienced by Wartinah in accessing Mobile JKN is the main target of health service digitalisation.
In her view, BPJS Kesehatan is committed to continuously eliminating administrative barriers that hinder participants. Through online queue digitalisation, BPJS Kesehatan ensures service accessibility for all participants without being constrained by long waiting times.
Now, Wartinah is slowly returning to her routine. While undergoing routine check-ups and adopting a healthy lifestyle through light exercise, she holds great hope that this programme will continue. For Wartinah and millions of other participants, the JKN programme is a real hope to remain healthy and productive without worry about future healthcare costs.
