The Kudus Regency government in Central Java has ensured that residents diagnosed with catastrophic or severe illnesses automatically regain assistance for National Health Insurance (JKN) contributions, as a BPS survey recorded 202 such individuals among them. “The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) survey for Kudus Regency recorded that out of 11,000 PBI JK participants funded by the state budget who will become inactive from 1 February 2026, 202 of them suffer from catastrophic illnesses,” said the Head of the Social Services, Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Office (Dinsos P3AP2KB) Kudus, Putut Winarno, in Kudus on Friday. Accordingly, he stated, in line with government regulations, these 202 individuals are automatically reactivated as JKN participants. He added that the 202 individuals also underwent a verification process or direct field checks to confirm the accuracy of the data and information. “Even if there is a funding shortfall from the central government, the region is ready to assist through the regional budget. The most important thing is that all mechanisms are followed and patience is required,” he said. Similar cooperation is being carried out to conduct direct checks on data for 8,000 inactive JKN PBI participants to re-register them. If the results meet the requirements, they will certainly be proposed again to receive national health insurance contribution assistance. According to him, the public need not worry, as with their status as Universal Health Coverage (UHC) or comprehensive health coverage for the population, Kudus residents who are less fortunate will still have their treatment guaranteed. Meanwhile, the requirements for treatment funding through the regional budget, he said, require residents to complete personal data and a certificate of inability to afford (SKTM) from the local village government.
