JK Urges Jokowi to Show Original Diploma, Controversy Over Case Disturbs the Public
Former 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), assesses that the case of alleged fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has dragged on and is disturbing society. JK has just reported Rismon Sianipar to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency regarding allegations of spreading hoaxes claiming that he funded Roy Suryo in the Jokowi diploma controversy. According to JK, this diploma polemic involving Jokowi has harmed many parties, including himself, who has lost time by being dragged into this issue. “It disturbs society, wastes time, harms Mr Jokowi, harms everyone; tens of billions of rupiah are spent on lawyers or, like in my case, my time is lost, being involved,” he said to reporters on Wednesday (8/4). JK stated that the polemic not only has material impacts but also triggers division in society due to prolonged debates. “Our time is wasted, the costs are expensive, and division occurs in society. Pro and contra is division, fighting to the death on TV. Our national character is disrupted in that way,” he explained. According to JK, the issue could actually be resolved simply if Jokowi shows his original diploma. JK was Jokowi’s running mate when leading Indonesia in the 2014-2019 period. “Actually, the problem is simple, because I am sure that Mr Jokowi has an original diploma. We should just stop this matter by Mr Jokowi simply showing his original diploma,” he said. Therefore, he urges Jokowi to immediately show his original diploma. According to him, a quick resolution is important to prevent prolonged conflicts that could erode social life in society. “Just show it to the public and it’s done. I am sure Mr Jokowi will do that rather than us quarrelling, groups quarrelling for years, losing time, losing social dignity, that’s what we hope for,” JK added. Previously, JK officially reported Rismon Sianipar to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency. The report was registered under number LP/B/135/IV/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
