Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), will take legal action against allegations that he funded Roy Suryo and associates regarding the diploma of the 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He has vehemently denied the accusations.

Quoted from detikNews, JK provided clarification at his home in South Jakarta. He mentioned having seen reports in the media about Rismon Sianipar who made the allegations.

“In the media, there is a report based on a statement in quotes from Mr Rismon Sianipar, that I funded Roy Suryo and his associates with Rp 5 billion to question Jokowi’s diploma,” said JK at his residence in the South Jakarta area on Sunday (5/4/2026).

JK then explained that he only knows Roy Suryo as a former minister.

“I say that is definitely and certainly not true. I don’t even know Rismon, anything, never met. Roy, because he was a former minister, I know him, yes I know. But the others, no,” he stated.

Legal action will be taken. On Monday (6/4), JK will submit a report to the police through his legal representatives.

“So I want to say because of that, tomorrow the lawyer, representing me, will report to Bareskrim Mr Rismon, to seek the truth, to establish the truth that what was said is not true,” he said.

Meanwhile, JK’s legal representative, Abdul Haji Talaohu, stated that they will continue discussions regarding the report. He has not yet determined whether the report will be submitted to Polda Metro Jaya or to Bareskrim Polri.

“Because that is also the step of reporting Rismon as part of holding accountable the statements he has made. Because this is about reputation,” said Abdul.

“And Mr JK has already stated that it is slander, an accusation of slander, so this must be addressed seriously,” he added.

When asked for confirmation regarding JK’s statement, Rismon Sianipar has not yet responded.
