JK reports Rismon to Bareskrim over alleged defamation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The legal representatives of the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, visited the National Police Headquarters to report Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar in a case of alleged defamation against their client, who was accused of funding Roy Suryo and associates regarding the authenticity of the degree of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
Based on ANTARA observations, Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) legal team arrived at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) building of the National Police in Jakarta on Monday at 10:10 WIB.
JK’s legal representative, Abdul Haji Talaohu, brought a bundle of documents to be submitted to the investigators at Bareskrim Polri.
Upon arrival at the location, Abdul stated that JK was reporting the alleged defamation over accusations by Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar and several other names suspected of spreading false news through the YouTube platform.
“Today, we will file a police report. Not only for Mr Rismon, but there are several others that we will also report,” he said at the Bareskrim Polri building in Jakarta on Monday.
Abdul emphasised that they were taking the report seriously because of Rismon’s accusation against JK, who was alleged to have handed over Rp5 billion to Roy Suryo and his associates.
“He made statements, one of which mentioned that behind the movement questioning Mr Jokowi’s degree, there was an elite official, and in that regard, he mentioned that Mr JK handed over money to Roy and his associates amounting to Rp5 billion, and he witnessed it,” he said.
“That is why we are making this report today as a serious step to respond and demand accountability for his clarification,” he continued.
“Mardiansyah Semar, Chairman of Rampai Nusantara, in a statement on YouTube, said that Mr JK no longer has the capacity or rational instinct for power. There was a sentence accusing Mr JK of being a loser. If we pull it together, his movement leads to unconstitutionality. This is hoax news,” he explained.
Meanwhile, JK also reported two YouTube accounts, namely Musik Ciamis and Mosato TV, for alleged defamatory statements.
JK’s legal team reported Rismon’s side under the defamation article, namely Article 439 jo. Article 441 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the new Criminal Code, as well as Article 27A jo. Article 45 of the ITE Law.
“Defamation is under Article 439 jo. Article 441 of Law Number 1/2023 on the new Criminal Code. We are also reporting under Article 27A jo. Article 45 of the ITE Law for defamation. In the Criminal Code, that is slanderous accusation, which also includes false news,” said Abdul.
