JK Remembers Rahmat Gobel as a Kind and Meritorious Figure at Funeral
“Pak Rahmat was a very kind, friendly man, with a background as a businessman as well as a politician. Almost the same as me — a politician-businessman or businessman-politician.”
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla remembered the late Rachmat Gobel as a good, friendly man who rendered many services to the public.
JK, as Jusuf Kalla is known, said Rachmat Gobel was someone who was able to build relationships with people from all walks of life and understood a wide range of issues.
He made these remarks, accompanied by his wife Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, after attending Rachmat Gobel’s funeral at the Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) in Jakarta on Friday.
JK noted that Rachmat Gobel shared an almost identical background with his own, that of a businessman who also entered politics.
“Pak Rahmat was a very kind, friendly man, with a background as a businessman as well as a politician. Almost the same as me — a politician-businessman or businessman-politician,” said JK.
In his assessment, Rachmat Gobel was someone who mixed easily and befriended many people. The late businessman was also known as diligent, disciplined, and always made an effort to arrive punctually at various events.
“He befriended everyone, understood problems, and was very friendly. That was his character — always diligent and punctual in attending events, and kind to everyone,” said JK.
According to him, Rachmat Gobel’s educational experience abroad also helped shape his broad outlook and knowledge.
“His knowledge was certainly quite good, because he spent a long time studying abroad. That is how it was — Pak Rahmat was a truly good man,” said JK.
Rachmat Gobel was known as a national businessman and politician who served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2019–2024 term.
