JK Meets Number of Communication Experts at His Home This Afternoon, What Will They Discuss?

Several communications experts gathered at the residence of Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) on Jalan Brawijaya, South Jakarta. They stated that their visit this afternoon was to engage in fraternity visits with JK.

According to detikcom’s monitoring at the location on Saturday, 14 March 2026, a number of communications experts who had arrived included Emrus Sihombin, Lely Arrianie, Effendi Gazali, Suko Widodo, Adriano Qalbi, and Mo Sidik. The meeting was held closed to the media.

Effendi explained that their visit this afternoon was for fraternity and social visits in conjunction with Ramadan 1447 Hijri. “So usually, during Ramadan, there’s a meeting with Mr JK for fraternity,” Effendi told journalists before entering JK’s residence.

He admitted that the group had made efforts to arrange the fraternity visit with JK. He did not rule out the possibility that geopolitical issues would be discussed during today’s meeting.

“Especially now that there is a serious geopolitical crisis. Mr JK’s experience as an international mediator is something we might want to share together,” he said.

On the same occasion, Airlangga University (Unair) communications expert Suko Widodo expressed the view that the group sensed a communication gap between the government and the people.

“In general, we Indonesian communicologists always want the government—whoever the president is, especially President Prabowo—to succeed. But recently we have observed a significant divide in communication,” Suko said.

Returning to Effendi, he also mentioned a communication gap between the president and his people. “So it seems the President intends one thing, but the people don’t understand. In our view, among the 14 people present, there is a significant communication gap. Why? This may be worth discussing, especially,” Effendi added.
