JK Files Police Report Against Rismon and Protests: Jokowi's Diploma Case Already Causing Unease
Former Vice President of Indonesia (10th and 12th) Jusuf Kalla (JK) has officially reported Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar and two social media accounts to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) over the dissemination of hoaxes and false news related to Jokowi’s diploma.
The report was submitted directly by JK to Bareskrim Polri on Wednesday (8/4) last week. The report was received and registered under number LP/B/135/IV/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri.
JK stated that he chose to report Rismon because the accusation of being a funder was deemed unethical and highly insulting to him as someone who had accompanied Jokowi as Vice President for five years.
“I am reporting Rismon Sianipar for his actions that I consider harmful to me because he said I funded Roy Suryo and his associates regarding Mr Jokowi’s diploma,” JK said after filing the report.
“How could I pay someone Rp5 billion to investigate him? That is inappropriate and impossible for me to do. It is an insult and damages my dignity,” he added.
In addition to Rismon, JK also reported a YouTube account named Studio Musik Rock Ciamis and a Facebook account named 1922 Pusat Madiun.
In the report, he also submitted several pieces of evidence in the form of video recordings of the accusations of him being the funder in the Jokowi diploma case.
On the other hand, JK assessed that Rismon only denied that the video was not made by him directly. However, he said, Rismon did not deny the statements in the video about him providing Rp5 billion to Roy Suryo and his group.
“He only said it was not him who did it, but he did not deny the content. He did not deny it,” he explained.
JK said he would consider not pursuing the legal process if Rismon had denied the Rp5 billion funding issue from the outset. However, he said, Rismon did not do so.
“If he denied that it was not true, that Mr JK gave Rp5 billion, gave money, there might be some benefit. But if he says it was AI, that means nothing to me,” he stated.
In addition to protesting against Rismon, JK also complained about the prolonged resolution of the Jokowi fake diploma allegation case.
According to JK, this diploma polemic has harmed many parties, including himself who has lost time by being dragged into this issue.
“It is causing unease in society, wasting time, harming Mr Jokowi, harming everyone; tens of billions of rupiah are spent on whether it’s lawyers or like me, my time is lost, involved,” he said to reporters on Wednesday (8/4).
JK said the polemic not only has material impacts but also triggers divisions in society due to the prolonged debate.
“Our time is wasted, the costs are high, and divisions occur in society. Pro and contra is division, fighting to the death on TV. That disrupts our national character in that way,” he explained.
