JK, Didit Prabowo, and Anies Pray Eid in the Same Row at Al Azhar Grand Mosque

An unusual sight unfolded at the Al Azhar Grand Mosque courtyard in Jakarta during Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 Hijriah on Saturday, 21 March 2026. Several national figures from across generations were seen standing in the same row, from Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla to Didit Hediprasetyo, son of President Prabowo Subianto. Their presence immediately drew the attention of the congregation. Besides JK and Didit, other notable figures such as Anies Baswedan, Jimly Asshiddiqie, Mahfud MD, and Suharso Monoarfa were also present. Amid the warm atmosphere, Jusuf Kalla delivered an important message about unity. He stressed that Eid al-Fitr should serve as a momentum to strengthen ties and togetherness. “This is an opportunity for us all, especially Muslims, to maintain unity and brotherhood, and to jointly advance the nation and country,” he said. JK also expressed gratitude that the Eid prayer proceeded smoothly without weather disruptions, despite earlier predictions of rain. “Praise be to God, although rain was forecasted beforehand, it did not happen. It only rained lightly last night. This is a blessing for us all,” he stated. Furthermore, JK touched on the situation in Muslim-majority countries, particularly in the Middle East, which are still plagued by conflicts. He viewed this as a reminder for Indonesia to continue safeguarding unity. “We in Indonesia must maintain that unity. We also support and pray for our brothers in other countries to reunite,” he said. According to JK, Eid al-Fitr is not merely a celebration but also a moment to bolster solidarity, both domestically and among Muslims worldwide. The camaraderie did not end with the prayer. Afterwards, the figures appeared relaxed, greeting each other and chatting casually. Jusuf Kalla even spoke with Didit before they captured the moment with a group selfie. The appearances of the figures also attracted attention. Jusuf Kalla, Jimly, and Mahfud appeared coordinated in black suits and peci caps. Meanwhile, Anies opted for a mint green koko shirt, and Didit kept it simple with a white koko.
