Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla is visiting several countries in the ASEAN region to attend invitations for dialogues on peace. This was stated by Jusuf Kalla’s spokesperson, Husain Abdullah.

He said that Jusuf Kalla had departed on his tour to various countries on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to return to Indonesia on 28 March.

“Accompanied by Hamid Awaludin,” he said when contacted on Thursday, 26 March 2026. Hamid Awaludin is the Minister of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs for the 2004-2007 period, when the government was led by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Husain did not detail the ASEAN countries that Jusuf Kalla is visiting in this peace dialogue tour. However, he confirmed that Jusuf Kalla is not flying to Iran for this peace dialogue agenda.

“Mr JK is not going to Tehran, but to several ASEAN countries,” he said.

On the other hand, Jusuf Kalla, who serves as the General Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross, is preparing the dispatch of humanitarian aid to Iran. Husain said that the PMI’s plan to send aid in the form of medicines will be carried out in early April.

“(The dispatch of humanitarian aid) is not related to this ASEAN visit,” he said.

Amid the Middle East conflict due to the outbreak of war between the United States-Israel and Iran, Jusuf Kalla often receives guests from various parties. For example, when Jusuf Kalla met with several domestic economists at his residence in South Jakarta on Sunday evening, 8 March 2026.

The discussion between Jusuf Kalla and the economists addressed the impact of the US-Iran conflict on Indonesia’s economy. Jusuf Kalla also received a visit from the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, at his private residence on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

The meeting between JK and Boroujerdi discussed developments in the current situation in Iran and the potential role of Indonesia in promoting conflict resolution.

After the meeting, Jusuf Kalla revealed that Boroujerdi presented the latest conditions in his country. The Iranian Ambassador’s presentation included the resistance of the Iranian people and the casualties among civilians due to combined attacks launched by the United States and Israel on Iran.

“In the discussion and visit of the Iranian Ambassador, the latest situation in Iran was conveyed, as well as the resistance of the Iranian people and the casualties mostly among civilians such as school children and so on,” said Kalla, quoted from his official statement.

JK stated that the Iranian side hopes for support from the Muslim community, including from Indonesia. In principle, according to him, Indonesian society and government support peace efforts.
